The preliminary work video

Me and Iulio Kambe went on Saturday,January 12th in the Central Cemetery from our town,Cluj-Napoca to shoot the preliminary work video.

It wasn't easy to shoot it because of some factors.First one would be the cold and the snow on the ground,making the whole thing tougher.Second one would be the Roma people that kept passing by,some of the by car,stopping us from recording and some of them putting us questions,or telling us not to take photos of them. In the end old of the Roma people left and we have got used with the cold and the snow,but it started snowing.Having snow falling in the video was making it more cinematic,but I was getting worried about my camera and the lens not to catch water or get wet. Everything is fine with my camera now.

At first,Iulio wanted me to record him barefoot,but despite of the cold outside,he didn't resist more than five minutes,so he had to put his boots back on.

Speaking of characters,my teammate Iulio Kambe was the unique character.He was all dressed in black,having black make up around the eyes,eye lens and a mask,wearing a hoodie. He also had a necklace made from two chains and some padlocks with the keys in them at the end. Here is how he was dressed and made up:

Regarding editing,on the following day,we met at Starbucks in order to start editing. It took us about one hour and a half to put the recordings together and in chronological order.Also we have syncronized the audio with the videos.On Monday we have put the b-roll shots at the sentences that haven't had an assigned shot in the storyboard.We have also inserted some transitions between the videos.

In the Media Studies class from Tuesday we have learnt a couple of things.Firstly,we have learnt by ourselves how to insert titles on the video or on a black background,without using photoshop. Secondly,we have learnt a critical aspect about video editing:DO NOT EVER MOVE THE FILE'S LOCATIONS;because if you do so,you will then have to search from them manually,which is an awful thing to do.Below you have a screenshot of this issue:

We have also worked at the recording voice of Iulio's. Being really hard to say the poem out loud, Iulio had to adapt his voice and tone in order to sound good.Unfortunately the volume was really low,so we had to add some more volume effects, in order to increase the volume.

Also,we have put some nature sound of birds etc. It's sound was fine,but what we have edited here was the volume in between Iulio talking,where we have b-roll shots.

Rendering it was okay,besides the fact that we had make the video transition small.Because of the low fps in the video while editing,we could really see them how they actually were,so after we have rendered it the first time,we have seen this issue and fixed it.
