9 Frame Analysis Jexi

Updated: Mar 3, 2020

Jexi is about a guy that buys a brand new phone which has voice recognition, interacting with his owner. In time, the phone starts to control his life and starts threatening the character.

Frame 1: In this shot the character is seen unboxing the phone through a medium wide shot. What is interesting is the lighting - how natural lighting brightens the charter's face, the subject not being recorder directly from the face.

Frame 2: This is a b-roll shot of the character walking trough the city. Even though it is a static shot, the character walking across the shot, makes the image have enough action.

Frame 3: This wide shot shows the character at his working place, together with his other colleagues, in front of the computers. All of them are listening to their boss.

Frame 4: This is an over the shoulder shot of the main character hold his phone and looking at the girl working at the bicycle shop, whom he met the other day. The lighting is a little bit darker, shoving that at the time it was night.

Frame 5: This bird eye view shot shoes the character just woken up by the phone, with a very annoying sound and it saying 'wake up bitch'. The lighting is only natural, coming from the window, showing that it is early morning.

Frame 6: This is another b-roll shot of the city and a bridge at night. It is a fast motion, which also shows that some editing has taken place to this shot.

Frame 7: This close up shows the character dancing at a party. The lighting shows the atmosphere in there.

Frame 8: This wide shot shows the character in the phone shop, looking at the televisions with the same message as his phone.

Frame 9: This shot shows the character falling and sliding on the ground. followed by a car which is controlled by his phone. Again, it is a steady shot, but the movement compensates.
