Each image says something about the short film. The short film is about a romanian peasant that has to dig a ditch in front of his house,while his wife is away, to the church.
Frame 1: The hungarian passes by with two buckets of water in his hands for his mom.Vasilica asks for his help but the hungarian refuses. It is filmed with a long shot along the road and the ditch. The lighting, being the sun and because of the warm of the colors, you can tell how hot it is outside.
Frame 2: Vasilica starts digging, but you can clearly see that he doesn’t want to work at all,from the way he swings the axe. It is still a long static shots, but it has action by the fact that the character digs the dig.
Frame 3: Petre, the gipsy passes by with a fork and a bag in his hand, on the way to a neighbour in order to work the hay for him. Vasilica approaches him and starts chatting with him. Petre tells him that he needs a godfather.
Frame 4: In the end they end up with Petre digging the ditch, and Vasilica the Godfather. Vasilica leaves in the garden and Petre keeps up the hard work.
Frame 5: After Petre finishes to dig, Vasilica invites him in the garden to drink some homemade wine. The sit on the stairs from the entrance of the shed.
Frame 6: After some glasses of wine Petre wants to leave, but Vasilica keeps pouring wine into his glass. In this time , Vasilica’s wife comes back from the church, she salutes them, and when she hears Petre that he wants to leave and Vasilica, keps him there, his wife tells him to leave. You can see that Vasilica’s wife doesn’t really like Petre.
Frame 7: At the dinner, Vasilica’s wife finds out that Petre dug the ditch because Vasilica accepted to be the Godfather. She gets very mad and starts swearing at Vasilica.
Frame 8: Because Vasilica also got very furious, he tells his wife that he goes outside the undo the ditch. He says this just to go outside and chill down, and smoke a cigarette. Because you can't see the sun anymore, you can tell it is already night outside.
Frame 9: Vasilica goes back in the house. Vasilica, being calmer, ask Vasilica if she should invite their children to the baptism, seeming alright, now with the thought of being Godfather to the gipsies.
